AGES 5-7
Registration is always 1/2 price!
Forms The same forms are required of all MYFA participants.
Number of Mascots Accepted: The number allowed will be in ratio to the cheer team. Mascots who are siblings of cheerleaders or players are given first consideration.
Uniform: Mascots will receive a uniform. The uniform is slightly different. Mascot will need to supply their own spankies/dance pants/bloomers, shoes and hair bow/ribbons. Tennis shoes are required. Cheer shoes are not. Hair is required to be pulled up. Each year will vary on style. Hair Bow or Ribbons will be required as final dressing to uniform. Jewelry is not permitted.
Mascot Rules: Parent must attend practices and games with child. Mascots do not mount - ever. Due to the complexity of the choreography, memorization and finer motor skills, mascots do not perform the half-time dance routine. Gum chewing is not permitted. A water bottle is required at all practices, games and events.
Competition: If MYFA choses to compete in a season, the Mascot may attend to be introduced. Mascots do not perform with the team they mascot for. If a Mascot Division is available for "Exhibition or Performance", our mascots may participate.
From the Ohio Association of Cheerleading Coaches: Introducing the youngest fans/participants as "Mascots" for Youth and Peewee
teams is great training in self-discipline, endurance and introductory skills.
The OACC General membership voted unanimously against try-outs
for Youth Mascots.
Tips: Do not allow your mascot to roam the stands to promote spirit.
Little people overheat faster than older kids. Hydrate them.
