Youth Night Scheduled

YOUTH NIGHT IS SCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY, SEPT. 16 AT THE 7 pm, BATTLING BEES V. CUYAHOGA FALLS GAME @ DUKES STADIUM

We will be cheering on the track/sidelines alongside the Medina High School Cheerleaders at a Friday night Varsity Football game.

Be in Full Dress Uniform at MHS Stadium at 7:00 or earlier.

The MHS JV and Varsity cheerleading squads will come to Greenwood to run our practice to have you prepared . You will learn a chant to perform during 3rd quarter at the game.

IMPORTANT
LOGISTICS: The youth girls will be called down to the track before half-time to line up according to squad. MHS JV will greet the girls on the track. They will walk down the track and perform what they learned. After all the youth have performed they will be released at the end of the track. (into the crowd). MHS cheerleaders are not responsible for your youth cheerleaders. Please make sure your parents know they need to make arrangements after the performance to meet you at the end of the track to pick you up.

Wear your spiritwear or team colors and logos to the game.

Cheerleaders Update

Camp was awesome! We had about 90 girls cheering, dancing, tumbling and mounting. What a way to start a season!

NOTICE – There is no practice Fair Week.

SEASON PRACTICE 2 weeks, everyday Practices start Mon Aug 8th

TEAM ASSIGNMENTS/ROSTERS
Roster assignments and Practice Field locations should arrive to your email address by mid-week.

UNIFORMS - Uniforms will be issued the 2nd week of practice.
Shoes – Mascots, B Squad/Freshman and A Squad/Sophomores may wear any white tennis shoes.
JV and Varsity – Zephz Butterfly shoes available at MC Sports, on line and possibly other sporting good stores. They run small, allow room for growth.

Spankies/dance pants/bloomers – do not purchase any until you have your team assigment this week. The league will also help to get these by placing 1 bulk order. It is your option to get them at a store or have the league order them for you.

PHYSICALS are required for all participants.

Welcome Home Broncos, Hello Stallions

Due to the large influx of growth that Medina Youth Football Association has experienced this year we will be welcoming two additional teams to the MYFA family. Each team will most likely feature squads at all age levels in both football and cheer.

The Broncos team name was initially established by MYFA in 1971. Therefore, MYFA is welcoming home the Broncos team name. The Broncos will display red, white, and blue colors. The Stallions team name will be a welcome addition to the MYFA family and will display green, yellow, and gold colors.

Please spread the word of the new team additions to the MYFA family! Let the community know that we are still registering players and welcome any new players and their families into our Medina Youth Football family!

A recent study conducted by the Mayo Clinic indicates that age difference not weight is the key factor in youth injuries. Read the report in its entirety (PDF)

Some Key Highlights:

Youth players who are larger don’t necessarily impact with more force if they aren’t fast and strong.
The number one determining factor of speed and strength is age maturity and not weight.
Both American Youth Football and Pop Warner Football, the two largest youth football organizations in the US, offer unlimited weight classes. Therefore, a standard has been set for their acceptability.
